Dixie in her Doggy Spanx
Newby, Bathroom Lifeguard
Made, by Me
For the last year I've tried to find the perfect artwork for a blank space on my deck.... Nothing appealed.
So Newby and Dixie had a little sit down with me and said there is only one kind of artwork worthy of display anywhere...
Behold my freshly painted dachshund silhouette.

Ice Storm
This is the view from my kitchen window after last night's ice storm which left us without power for almost five hours late last night. I'm depressed as I loved that river birch. :(
I've not checked the rest of the property yet but I'm anticipating more of this look. I fell getting the mail yesterday so schlepping anywhere today isn't a high priority.
Wherever you are stay warm and safe.
Like Frankie & Ernie Said, "Baby, It's Cold Outside...."
We are expecting 6 inches of snow today. Yay. :/ So I ran out and did a quick shop at Wal-mart. All I have to say is TGFFWD (Thank God For Front Wheel Drive). I saw so many rear-wheeled drive cars stuck along my way. I grew up in the mountains. I know how to drive in the snow. I just don't like driving here because so many do not know how to drive in the rain, let alone snow. So I plan to snuggle in, read a book, watch a movie, drink some hot cocoa, and watch the snow fall.... and wash the rug in the bathroom as the dogs have decided that is preferable to going out in the snow. :/
So, here is my home state, Kentucky, winter white covered, a dachshund owner's nightmare...

2013 Peace Summit Has Concluded
And tenuous peace has been called at the Pennington Farm, with cat and dog putting away their nuclear weapons (aka pee and poop stink bombs) and are working together for a lasting accord.
Seriously, with a face like this, how could you not want to live peacefully together. :)
Bee tee dubs: This is my 700th post. Whodathunk I'd be blogging about my dogs, farm and family for such a long time.. I'm very thankful for the people who follow and comment... it's so much fun meeting you all, and becoming friends! Here is to the next 700 posts!

Feral Cats and all that Jazz
I told you about the feral cats... and we named them (Crawford, Khan, Tiger Lily, Palpatine and Weasley).... and we feed them... and all that.
Well, here is Palpatine, or Tina depending on her sex. She only lets you near when you have food, unlike Tiger Lily who seems to likes people.
Thought you'd like to see more of the menagerie.
Tuesday Food Edition
I've been cooking... a lot... I have shared a few on Facebook, but thought I would make you hungry this morning, too, Blogville!

Best Part/Worst Part About Sunny Days
These pictures are from Monday when the sun was streaming down, we were warm, and mom decided we needed to be wet, too. You see Mom likes these sunny days because she can give us the dreadful bath then we can go to the porch and dry on the deck.
Lucky for us it's only 70° and rainy today so mom won't bathe us.... right mom? Right? Uh, Mom... right?!?
*The close up pictures of Newby's head is showing how Dixie has decided to groom him until he is bald... and he lets her!!!! We have to shoo her off him... it's because fleas and mosquitos are very bad this year and we are having trouble keeping our little ones free of bugs.. in our world one bug is too many... no repellant seems to work, any suggestions?
