Gotcha Day (a few days late)

It's hard to believe three years ago this little guy came into our lives. I'm busy trying to get one not so little guy into his first year of college, and I missed celebrating Blogville style with Newby.

But he doesn't seem to mind as long add extra snuggles come his way.

Happy Second Gotcha Day, Newby!!

I know. I've been awfully quiet. Things have been crazy, and not like 'busy' crazy but 'hand me a bottle of bourbon and a handful of Xanax' kinda crazy. I have been quiet, but I cannot stay quiet today.

Because no matter how bad I feel, how crazy my head is, how things are going to hell in a handbag, a little guy is always there as my best friend. Happy 2nd Gotcha Day, Newby!

The very first picture Mrs. Jessica sent to us.

Here he was all scared and wondering what was going on  6/5/12.

And here he is.... King of the House and Love of my life!! Tonight Mom is BBQ'ing some chicken, we are going to set up the tent a watch a movie in the backyard, and have a special dessert just for Newby.

Sending each of you many hugs, much love and all our prayers.

Happy Gotcha Day, Milo!

Today is a VERY important day for our family... it was the day we got our very first dachshund, Milo. :)  His birthday was July 21 but we today is the day, 8 years ago, we drove 9 hours, round trip, to get Mr. Milo from his home in Murray, Kentucky.  You can read all about his Gotcha here.

Party like You're MagNewb, PI

We went to the land of pineapple to celebrate Newby's first gotcha day... ok to the land of Tom Selleck, Higgins, and hot red Ferraris.

We had steak, bacon ranch smashed new potatoes and Caesar salad. Oh, and peanut butter pie or strawberry pie for dessert. The dogs divided a 1 1/3 pound of steak between them... and were overjoyed. They are looking forward to Dixie's gotcha day celebration of this if the kinda menu they well have.

Newby got an outside dog bowl (special colors to match the cushions on the back porch and deck), a bag of treats to share, a loofa squeakie, and a great fire hydrant squeakie from Mrs. Cindy, Charlie, Millie and Walter Etsy store... they blog over at Bird Brains and Dog Tales.

The pictures are not fantastic.... mostly because of poor lighting. If you live with me or visit me you'll realize I do not like lighting. My house is lamp poor because I like to live like a bat. Well, the lighting is part of the problem... mostly I am a very poor picture taker.

I'm gonna be taking the weekend off from blogging my own blog so I can catch up with yours. I read your blogs daily, but am a horrible commentor. I have been working and hope to catch up commenting on your blogs by Sunday.

Happy First Gotcha Day, Newby!!!!

Can you believe this little sweetie has been with us a whole year? It just seems like yesterday we were going to the vet to be interviewed! We were so nervous! We saw that sweet face and knew that he just needed some love and patience. And we were overjoyed when the vet picked us to be his new family out of all the other people who wanted him.

He has learned a lot this year... and, if we are honest, he has taught us a lot, too.  Here are a few highlights from Newby's first year!

He has learned how to chew a bone.
He got a girlfriend.
He found out how great warm towels can be.
He went on several trips to Lowes, Sonic, Home Depot, PetSmart, etc.
He got a full name!
He learned how to distract momma and steal people food.
He became brave and went out on the porch all by himself.
He goes off leash a little bit now and then.
He has learned how to assert himself during bone chewing time.
Actually he has learned how to assert himself at any time!
He has partied like a rock star (or a really great British Spy).
He found his artistic side.

In other words, he has had a fantastic year... and we are blessed to have him be our little guy!

Thank you for being the best blogville family ever... You make all of us, including Newby, very happy!

This Day, Last Year, Was Sadder

At this time of day last year we were not the happy little family we are today. We were happy, but just not as happy as we could have been. You see we were without Newby, so we couldn't have been as happy as we could be.

Newby's official gotcha day is tomorrow, June 6th,  but we've been celebrating every day this week. How could we not? Newby deserves some extra celebration.

Here are a few pictures from the last year... we are glad he is here to stay!!
