Been a busy weekend, but not so busy we couldn't go to watch the new Star Trek (awesome btw) and come home for a snuggle with some fur-babies.

Ok, so Catio sounds so much better, but we don't have cats... Well, we do have cats, but they are feral cats who have migrated to our little farm. They aren't named so technically they aren't mine.
Point is, we added a fence to keep the four leggers on the patio. (Read that as Newby) It works, too. Last night they enjoyed sitting on the cushions, listening to the birds, and getting a neck scritch from mom. My little piece of heaven. Now to extend the deck out.. but that's after I work on my bonfire pit in the back.
Yeah, I got nothing to blog about today... can you tell? :)

It's the little things which are adorable... Dixie and Milo know the sound of the dryer opening. They immediately scamper in to see if it's clean towels, because they know that is their snuggle load.
Newby has always been confused as to why they are so excited, but yesterday Dixie convinced him to try it out... and a warm, clean towel convert was born.

You see, it was my birthday Friday... I'm not really good at celebrating 'me'... it makes me very uncomfortable to be the center of attention. (I know!! I'm the anti-Puddles). So I thought if I just don't post, turn off my facebook walls, and not tweet anything maybe it would pass with out any fireworks and parades (cause I know you love me enough for fireworks and parades... maybe even a community bbq, with a pie eating contest, and baby animals).
All I asked of my friends and family was to 'pay it forward', taking the energy they would normally put into saying something nice to me and in-turn do something kind or thoughtful to another. It was a total success, from giving up doctor's appointments to giving double tips to waitstaff, to not flipping off people who cut you off (that was several people... so we need to look at our road rage or the lack of driving skills on the roads today). One touched me a great deal, a former classmate is a paramedic and said that each 'run' she went on Friday would be dedicated to me. I was overwhelmed by people showing their kindness in my honor.
I asked the favor of my friends and family in response to (geeky reference coming in 3, 2, 1...) one of my favorite quotes which Gandalf says to Galadriel in "The Hobbit". I share with you now to remember, and possibly take to heart like I have: "I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay-- small acts of kindness and love." You see, it takes nothing, hardly any time or effort, to help those around you 'See Beautiful' as Goose would say.
My love to you all.... especially a special family, who without knowing, sent my favorite color of flower to liven up my house this weekend. Much love to you, especially... and after all the blooms bud out I will post pictures... right now we are 50/50, but it's been bloody cold in KY and therefore bloody cold in my house because I refuse to turn the heat on in May!!
(And here is proof of the project we've been working on around the farm for the last four weeks...all handmade from seats and tables to cushions by us. Sorry about it being shadowy.. the back of my house gets morning sun... We have 1 more seat to make and paint then the project will be 'complete'.)

As Max, Amber, and Autumn could tell you, you know if they posted to my blog instead of their own, we have been jimmy-rigging our screen porch up, waiting for some nice weather, so we could replace a couple panels.
We only got the screen door fixed today, and still have one panel to replace. It wasn't gorgeous weather today, but still warm enough to have the windows and doors open. Since the doors were open, we had to make a prison for the puppies while we were working on the screen door.
They were not happy. Considering it is their fault we are replacing screening, I do not think their grouchy faces should be taken into consideration.
Plans for tomorrow? Well, I'm not sure, but I know part of the day will be used replacing the panel being blocked by my yet to be filled flower pots.
Farm life is never done.
