It's amazing to me how the puppies get into some situations. This time Dixie snuggles in, under a pillow, and Newby decides the same pillow is perfect for an afternoon nap. It's pretty difficult to work when they get into their bags of creative cuteness. I think they know I'm getting ready for my first fall theater show, and think if they make me laugh really hard I might forget to go.
They might be onto something.

It was such a lovely day we couldn't stay at home so we took a spontaneous trip to a local state park between Lexington and Richmond. Boonesborough was founded by legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone when he worked for Richard Henderson of the Transylvania Company. Boone led a group of settlers through the mountains from Fort Watauga (at present day Elizabethton, Tennessee), carving out the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gap, and established Fort Boonesborough. Boone lived there from 1775 to 1779. Boonesborough was the first chartered town in Kentucky, and one of the first English speaking communities settled west of the Appalachian Mountains.
There was a hiking trail just perfect for correctly sized puppers.... just one mile. But it lead through a stream, through the valley, and by lots of things which smelled incredible.
We couldn't go into the fort as they are communist and do not allow puppers inside... something about it being a working fort and they didn't want the wool scattered everywhere.
Let's just say, even though we didn't see the fort, we had a great time.
**Taking a picture, a GOOD picture, of the three of them is so difficult... but taking a good picture of the three of them on a rock near a stream is almost impossible.

I want you to notice, Milo has ALLLLLLL the bones, but he is barking because he things either Newby or Dixie is holding out on one. Newby actually consumed one, so from what I can figure out, Milo had them counted and now one is missing. We have an evil mastermind on our hands.

Things are a little hectic here at Central Kentucky Dachshund. I'm really struggling to post, respond, take care of my business and my little farm.
Please forgive me if I'm delayed and behind... I'm trying.
But onto the Pillow Stealer, aka Newby. This little pillow should be on my bedroom loveseat, instead Newby has confiscated it for his own. Not sure when it happened, or even how, but yesterday when I was looking for the pillow i found it being snuggled by Newby in the basket.
I hate to tell you how he has started sleeping on the big bed... Sigh... yup, he has confiscated another pillow and sleeps right next to my head on top of it, all curled up in his Lily blanket.
He isn't the outsider anymore.. he is a regular ole diva.

I think I've mentioned we have been collecting, not on purpose, feral cats. Well one showed up pregnant. So now we have, as far as we know, 6 cats. O_o
(Btw: we've contacted the feral cat spaying people to see what we can do.. I'm not going to accidentally turn into the crazy cat lady.)
My puppers like to track the kittehs, but cannot ever find them. They haven't figured out there is a world above the 12" they can see.
Bless their hearts.

It will dry you off, post-bath, quickly.
(Bee tee dubs, this time it was Newby rolling and needing a bath. Milo is sitting outside with Newby, as he dries, in masculine commiseration.)

Nothing witty or epic to talk about today... working on a project before I start on another project... so I'll show you my garden. Bet Miss Mary Contrary didn't have this kinda good stuff.
