You see, it was my birthday Friday... I'm not really good at celebrating 'me'... it makes me very uncomfortable to be the center of attention. (I know!! I'm the anti-Puddles). So I thought if I just don't post, turn off my facebook walls, and not tweet anything maybe it would pass with out any fireworks and parades (cause I know you love me enough for fireworks and parades... maybe even a community bbq, with a pie eating contest, and baby animals).
All I asked of my friends and family was to 'pay it forward', taking the energy they would normally put into saying something nice to me and in-turn do something kind or thoughtful to another. It was a total success, from giving up doctor's appointments to giving double tips to waitstaff, to not flipping off people who cut you off (that was several people... so we need to look at our road rage or the lack of driving skills on the roads today). One touched me a great deal, a former classmate is a paramedic and said that each 'run' she went on Friday would be dedicated to me. I was overwhelmed by people showing their kindness in my honor.
I asked the favor of my friends and family in response to (geeky reference coming in 3, 2, 1...) one of my favorite quotes which Gandalf says to Galadriel in "The Hobbit". I share with you now to remember, and possibly take to heart like I have: "I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay-- small acts of kindness and love." You see, it takes nothing, hardly any time or effort, to help those around you 'See Beautiful' as Goose would say.
My love to you all.... especially a special family, who without knowing, sent my favorite color of flower to liven up my house this weekend. Much love to you, especially... and after all the blooms bud out I will post pictures... right now we are 50/50, but it's been bloody cold in KY and therefore bloody cold in my house because I refuse to turn the heat on in May!!
(And here is proof of the project we've been working on around the farm for the last four weeks...all handmade from seats and tables to cushions by us. Sorry about it being shadowy.. the back of my house gets morning sun... We have 1 more seat to make and paint then the project will be 'complete'.)
