We have a special (read scary) member of our little family. His name, and role in life, is The Disapproving Rabbit. I remember getting him at a Goodwill, but I do not know which one nor what year. In fact, The Disapproving Rabbit has the means and wherewithal to change memories, effect large and minute changes, and change mindsets.
He was purchased to be a part of our Easter Holiday decor. He was to simply sit next to another primitive looking bunny welcoming people into our home. But since the beginning, he started mesmerizing and changing us.
Any time we think of grabbing a snack, he is there disapproving. If you forget to take out the trash or recycling, he disapproves. If the dogs are at the back door wanting to go out, and they have to bark more than once, they disapprove because he disapproves. Turn the lights on in the kitchen at night, his little red eyes are full of disappointment and disapprove-ment. For Reed, he just disapproves all the time (I believe he doesn't like teenage boys much).
One of the biggest threats to our sanity is how he makes us forget to put him into the Easter storage box when the holiday is over. I will place him with all the decor to pack away. Then when I have placed all the storage boxes in the garage and pulled out the next holiday's decor, I come into my kitchen to find his little red eyes taunting me.... disapproving of his narrow miss in being put away for another year. He also caused us to forget to put away the winter decor snowflake under his paws, why I don't know. But I know he disapproves when you ask him about it.
There he continues to sit, holding his snowflake, disapproving.
